I have always wanted to live my life of passion
Caitlin on the Road started as a way to share my travels back in 2017 when I went to travel for 6 months in Asia. I called it Caitlin on the Road, well because I was quite literally on the road, but also because I was also on a personal development journey. Now that I am no longer on a physical road, my journey still continues but in a much different way. Now (in 2021), I have finished my studies and really got a start on my adult life working a 9 to 5. Yet this was never the life I envisioned for myself. I want freedom, adventure, constantly challenging myself, and most of all I want to live my passion. I have found that now that I am on a journey to really live the life I want, I want to approach everything with an energy that would be contagious for the people around me, inspiring them to take a similar journey doing what they absolutely love to do.
But how Does anyone live their passions?
On this blog I hope to give you tips and tricks on how to live your life of passions, and do the things you really want to do with your life. This is to most extent a log of my findings along the way, a place where I show my authentic self. To the purpose of living my life of passion, I have found that several things are crucial, starting with cultivating freedom and knowing what this entails for you. For me freedom means of freedom of mind, body, location, identity and financial freedom.
In terms of mind, you need to feel you can make the choices you want to make for your own happiness. You need a body that can support your dreams and lifestyle, meaning you need the energy and physical strength to make the right choices for you. You need the freedom to go where you want and be who you are. And finally you need the income that would support your lifestyle and choices. For me this means that I am working towards becoming FIRE (financially independent retire early), meaning I will at some point get a full income from my investment, meaning I no longer need to work for my money, and get to make choices accordingly. I could for example to quit my job altogether, work less, or change careers without having to worry about the financial retributions. All of this will give me time, space, energy, the mindset and the endurance to live my passions.
The key to creating this freedom is in my opinion personal development. By going outside of my comfort zone I have been able to find the challenges that I needed to overcome to grow beyond some of my limiting beliefs. I honestly believe that you can overcome everything that is holding you back by consistently working on improving yourself and getting a little closer to your dream lifestyle step by step, and organising my life in such a way that these steps are easier and easier to take.
I hope that along this road my story will inspire you to take steps towards living your passions. I hope that I can show you that along with all the struggles everyone experiences during a personal development journey, you can always take steps towards your dream life. For me, I most of all want to live, and not regret not taking any steps. I want to enjoy every moment, the big and the small moments, and find gratefulness for everything I have and work a little everyday to see if I can make my dreams come true. I want the road to be as enjoyable as the final end destination, if there really is any to begin with.

My current goals
Health
I want to feel fit and energised in my own body and have that be my normal. For me that means that I get enough sleep, wake up full of energy which I am able to sustain all through the day.
Passion
I want to spend my life living my passions, and doing the things I love doing. For me that means that I get to be creative daily and have the freedom to work on the projects that I am excited about. I get to work on my personal development and share quality time with my loved ones.
Financial Freedom
Financial Freedom to me means that I always have the freedom to decide what I want to do, and are able to live my life intentionally according to my terms. I want to be completely financially free by the age of 52.
Personal Development
In 2022 I want to really discover what I am capable of and see how I can develop as an entrepreneur. I want to work on my perfectionism and take action on my dreams.
Building my own Business
At the beginning of 2022 I started my own business called Passion Spotlight. My goal is to build a flourishing business that helps myself and others live their passions. I want to make €100.000,- in my business in 2022.
Join me on my passion journey
I have been thinking a long time about sharing my journey and showing my authentic self for a long time. The idea both excites me and terrifies me at the same time. It’s something that is close to my heart because I belief that so many more people have the potential to live their best life, and are instead spending all of their time in jobs that don’t excite them. I want more, I need more. I want to show people that there is so much more, and they can achieve it on their own terms.
To this end I have formulated several goals at the end of 2020. I decided it was time to really give a try to only formulating a few specific goals. These 5 goals have already changed in the course of this year, as I have better come to understand what I actually really want. If you want to know more about my current goals in health, passion, financial freedom, self care and building my own business, I’ll write monthly updates on my progress and next steps that I’ll be taking.
Next to my personal journey, I’ll also be sharing my perspective on topics related to passion, personal development and freedom on the blog. These topics can range from things that inspired me to act or think differently, and topics that might help other that are on a similar journey. Most of all I hope to inspire you to take this road and allow yourself to become your authentic self that has your dream life. I want to inspire you that everything is within your grasp with the use of different tools.
